Crystal D. Wright
CQI Coordinator, MCFD/RVPA/SMEMPS
Crystal Wright serves as the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) coordinator for the Marin County Fire Department, the Ross Valley paramedic Authority, and the Southern Marin Emergency Paramedic System. She works with the fire departments and paramedics in each system to follow and analyze the care given, and to offer training and coordination for improvement in care whenever possible.
Crystal received her B.A. in Dramatic Art and Psychology from the University at North Carolina-Chapel Hill. She later completed her M.S. in Health Services Administration at St. Mary's College, and has been a Paramedic since 1987.
Crystal first started doing this type of work in 1991 for Sonoma Life Support, and in 1999 started working with RVPA.
She enjoys “…working with the people who work with RVPA.” Her work includes
“…spending hours and hours at the computer doing analysis of calls,” and then working within the system to help keep the quality of services high. “We are so fortunate to have excellent technology, ample resources in terms of equipment and staffing”, she said, “and people who actually care about their profession.”
She describes the EMS systems in Marin as “… generally having ample resources, …not having extreme levels of violence or accidents,” and says “…the system is small enough that we can actually see what happens and examine it in a reasonable time frame. We also have people working this system who are passionate about their duties and performance.”
Crystal hopes for the future “…that we can continue to employ folks who care about this line of work; that we can continue to provide training and adequate protocols for them, and that we can continue to seek the most effective and innovative procedures and equipment to support the mission.”
